Drawworks for Offshore Drilling Rigs

A world-class manufacturer of transmissions for hoist and drawworks used in off-shore oil drilling and production rigs.
CHALLENGE:
Multiple incumbent suppliers were not able to provide compatible sintered and paper friction gears and corresponding steel plates in a timely fashion. The customer required tier-one parts which would meet or exceed the existing suppliers’ quality. ProTec was asked to provide a reliable, cost-effective single source for multiple wet friction parts and components that were previously sourced from multiple vendors.
SOLUTION & RESULTS:
Working with customer engineers and production managers, ProTec delivered samples which excelled in rigorous 3 rd party laboratory testing and analysis in the first round. Production parts required sophisticated heat treatment, specialized hardening, and precise finishing.
All parts were delivered and accepted on a tight schedule. ProTec even made special international delivery arrangements which save the customer thousands of dollars in cross-border shipping fees.
